Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban says the NBA team is now accepting Dogecoin (DOGE) as payment for game tickets and merchandise. Here’s a statement Mark Cuban has stated in the subject. Ok “The Mavericks have decided to accept Dogecoin as payment for Mavs tickets and merchandise for one very important, earth shattering reason, because we can! Because we can, we have chosen to do so. We have chosen to do so because sometimes in business you have to do things that are fun, engaging and hopefully generate a lot of PR. So we will take Dogecoin, today, tomorrow and possibly forever more.” Dogecoin began as a joke in 2013, but interest and technology in the cryptocurrency community has soared this year as billionaire Elon Musk and celebrities like Snoop Dog show support for the coin on Twitter.
In February, Cuban also tweeted that he bought Dogecoin to teach his 11-year-old son about investing. The Mavs are an early adopter of cryptocurrency. The team began accepting Bitcoin (BTC) in May 2019. To date, it supports payments in Bitcoin, Bitcoin Cash (BCH), Ethereum (ETH), USD Coin (USDC), Gemini Dollar (GUSD), Paxos Standard (PAX), Binance USD (BUSD) and now DOGE. Cryptocurrency payments service provider Bitpay will process Mavericks’ Dogecoin transactions.
