Four crypto-enthusiasts joined a team of Nepalese Sherpa on an adventurous trek to leave a nano-ledger with $50,000 worth of ASKT, ASKfm's token, at the summit of Mount Everest in the hopes of gaining some clout for their Initial Coin Offering (ICO).
Surprisingly, everyone made it to the top, and the publicity hoax appeared to be complete.
During the descent, however, it was discovered that one of the expedition's sherpas had been left behind and is now presumed dead. There have been no further details released about what happened.
ASKfm's four-man team was assisted by Lam Babu Sherpa, who helped them reach the summit of Mount Everest.
Lam Babu Sherpa was left behind during the descent from Mount Everest, according to extensive reports by the Financial Times and climbing website Rock and Ice. Lam Babu Sherpa is now presumed dead. Lam Babu Sherpa had climbed Mount Everest three times.
